The Egg Harbor Township school community was in mourning Saturday with the news that a beloved high school teacher passed away.
Douglas Winkler was a social studies teacher at the school, and also adviser to the current senior class.
“His loss will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him,” Egg Harbor Township High School Principal Jacki Carugno wrote in an email to parents.
There was an outpouring from students on social media.
The EHT Class of 2024 Instagram had several comments under the announcement, where many of the students affectionately referred to him by his nickname, Wink.
